Stone mother (2018, 2026)
In 2018 I went mental, it wasn't a great experience but in the psychiatric institution in which I took a two week holiday from both my senses and my responsibilities there were moments of levity. One girl, one of the few who trusted me - my being a tranny and all - giving me roll-ups and enjoying the nicotine rushing to my head in the blazing sunshine of the sports court, lost in the pink and purple clouds billowing behind my eyelids. I felt calm. In 2026 I went mental again, I spent a week in a psychiatric evaluation unit. I cried a lot, talked much too openly about my misadventures that had in some small part led me there. For all the anxiety and guilt I felt, I enjoyed being kept safe from the vicissitudes of the world even while they found their way in through the screen upon which I type this. At moments alone I wish I was back there. I felt held. An institution can be the maternal cradle you were searching for.
